Dowsing Rods Explained

Thursday, July 02nd, 2009

dowsing rodsDowsing rod singularly used or a pair of dowsing rods usually identify a dowser working the field for a water well, oil well, mineral deposit, a lost item and even treasure. Dowsing rod also known as dowsing stick, divining rod, “Y” Rod, doodlebug, dowsing scepter, dowsing wand and dowsing bobber are dowsing tools used every day by dowsers worldwide. Dowsing rods are used by dowsers to assist them in reaching a decision, usually a “yes”/“no” answer regarding the finding of lost or unseen items. Dowsing rods can be L rods, metal rods formed into the shape of an “L”, a wand sometimes called a bobber which has a handle with a limber stem protruding from it and a weighted tip to accentuate the bouncing action of the wand, a forked stick made from a living tree limb resembling the letter “Y” of the alphabet or from fiberglass rods such as the tips of fishing poles, bound on two of the rod ends to form a “V” or “Y” with a very short leg.

Dowsing rods are the tools to manifest science and natural forces or laws of nature that are not picked up by our 5 senses. Infrared light, x-ray and gamma rays of light were thought to be forms of divination or spiritual or non-existent until electronic equipment verified that these were unseen light rays of the full light spectrum, yet very real and now scientifically sound.

Users of dowsing rods are made up of three categories; natural scientific users, spiritualist/ psychics and novices. We have no beef with either of the last two categories, one we don’t understand and the other may get their act together if they realize that study, hard work correct practice and a knowledgeable tutor will improve their abilities. This compilation does dot try to explain, endorse or refute spiritualistic or occult divination as this practice is clearly not dowsing as presented here.

Special dowsing rods have evolved through experimentation and combined tests by noted dowsers such as Vern Cameron, Sam “Lobo” Wolf and Al Rossmiller. Some of these dowsing rods are built with a witness, “Bait”, chamber that allows the dowser to place a similar matter in the chamber of the rod as the dowser is searching for. The theory is that the dowsing rod will have a greater affinity for the searched target if the correct bait is in the chamber. The dowsing rod is used to “sweep” the area slowly until the dowsing rod locks onto the searched target.

The “Y” dowsing rod locks onto the target of water, oil or artifacts by pivoting in the dowser’s hand until the single end points directly down into the ground. The “L” rods will cross each other when the dowser walks over the buried target. The single “L” rod will point ahead until the target is reached then if the dowser continues to walk, the rod will pivot 180° pointing back to the passed target.

The wand (bobber) dowsing rod will bounce up and down (initiated by the dowser) until a question is asked. If the wand starts to circle clockwise at the tip, the answer is “yes”. If the wand circles counter clockwise, the question was not precise, or a “no”. If the wand continues to bounce vertically up and down and does not circle in either direction the answer is a definite “no”. Always start your sequence of dowsing by asking for a “yes,” then ask for a “no” and then note the responses and apply them to all dowsing of that project.

Dowsing rods react to an energy that is synonymous to the target. Energy rays such as the goz emanating from the center of the earth at a 45° angle are disturbed by caverns, tunnels, disturbed earth, water, minerals and metals. The dowsing rods react to these anomalies as well as human and animal bodies. The sex of a buried body can be dowsed with a single “L” rod balanced on your right index finger. A clockwise rotation is a male, counter clockwise female, the energy that was picked up to ascertain this 100% correct answer… unknown at this time. It is known however, that if you ask a person to lie on the ground, and use the same procedure outlined above, that the results for determining the sex will be confirmed.

Treasure positively identified!

Pendulum Dowsing

Friday, July 03rd, 2009

pendulum dowsingPendulum dowsing has been the choice of master dowsers for hundreds of years. The dowsing pendulum is compact, discrete and very accurate. Your dowsing pendulum can be made of almost anything that has mass enough to swing as a pendulum should. Metal, crystal, plastic, cork, ring, rock and string or chain creates a dowsing pendulum immediately. If you use wood for your pendulum, only use foreign wood to your location as a native local wood may not respond freely.

Pendulum dowsing is used by scientists, health professionals, map dowsers, remote viewing dowsers, professional dowsers and those beginning to dowse. The pendulum starts in a motionless position or a moving position. The dowser requests an example of “yes” then “no”. When a question is asked that can only be answered with a “yes” or “no”, the pendulum will respond within 1-2 seconds in the manner it demonstrated at the beginning example. A dowsing pendulum “yes” is usually a clockwise circular motion of the pendulum, (each dowser ascertains what his/her specific “yes” motion will be). Pendulum dowsing is thought to divulge optimum results in the morning, with the dowser facing East.

If treasure hunting is part of your interest, check it out 100%!

Pendulum dowsing usually requires that the dowser “balance” or tune the pendulum to his/her project. When you purchase or make your pendulum, try to have the string or chain at least 6” long. Take a cylindrical object such as a short pencil or stick and wind your pendulum string or chain around the pencil until you have about 2” from the finger tips of your right hand thumb and index finger. Point the thumb and finger down that is holding the pendulum string and extend your other 3 fingers out to form an antenna. Swing the pendulum over the object dowsed or concerning the matter to dowse and ask if the pendulum is “balanced” to the subject being dowsed. If the pendulum does not end by swinging in a clockwise circle, unwind the string/chain a little and repeat the question. Repeat this procedure and question until the pendulum swings in a nice clockwise circle. Upon achieving the “balanced” pendulum, proceed with your regular questions. More on pendulum Dowsing.

Pendulum Dowsing 101

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Pendulum dowsing can be achieved with any weighted body suspended by a flexible cord, chain, string, thread or stem. Pendulum dowsing has been used for over a thousand years and some say over two thousand years.

Most dowsers have a favorite dowsing tool and the pendulum happens to fill this favorite choice by most master dowsers. The reason for the pendulum’s popularity is that it is small, compact, convenient and can be used for most dowsing tasks.

Pendulum dowsing requires just a pendulum. However there are thousands of renditions of pendulums using glass, crystal, metal, magnets, rings, cork, wood, and some with hollowed chambers in which to place a “witness” or sample of the object you are searching for. Any pendulum will work to practice with but you may want a specialized pendulum for serious dowsing. Eventually pendulum dowsers experiment with designing and or making a pendulum that fits their own criteria.

Each dowser will develop his or her own personalized techniques in which to pendulum dowse. As you continue to dowse you will realize that your method of dowsing is a personal science that when combined with a journal or diary will improve with practice. Dowsing like an art skill will improve if you practice correctly. Find a mentor (master dowser) to critique your dowsing results.

These exercises will instill correct practice until you can develop a better degree of proficiency and develop your own methods of dowsing.

    1. Learn how to hold the pendulum,
    2. Learn to “adjust” the pendulum,
    3. Learn the 3 basic movements of the pendulum,
    4. Develop your dowsing Protocols,
    5. Learn how to use a “witness”,
    6. Learn where, when and in who’s presence to dowse or not to dowse,
    7. Practice, Practice, Practice.

Holding the Pendulum

    • Much has been said of the correct way to suspend the pendulum. Hold the string between the thumb and index finger pointing down.
    • Remember your entire body is an antenna to receive energy. If you were to extend the remainder of your fingers, separated, you would extend your antenna mass greater than a balled fist.
    • One would usually hold the pendulum with the hand that you write with. If you are right handed hold the pendulum with your right hand. If you are left handed hold the pendulum with your left.

Balancing the Pendulum

    • Adjust the pendulum by holding the string only about 1 1/2” above the pendulum.
    • Now start the pendulum swinging, in a straight line, aligned with the ARM holding the pendulum.
    • Slowly extend the string above the map, table, picture or blank paper while concentrating on the object being dowsed for, until the pendulum begins to circle in a clockwise direction.
    • The pendulum will be adjusted for pendulum dowsing of this specific dowsing task at this time.

Basic movements of the pendulum

The basic pendulum movements are:

    1. A clockwise circle,
    2. A counter clockwise circle and
    3. A straight swinging back and forth.

After you have “adjusted” the pendulum,

    a) Start the pendulum swinging, in a straight line, aligned with your ARM. Ask out loud for the pendulum to give you a “yes” response. Make a note of the direction the pendulum is moving.
    b) Now ask out loud for the pendulum to give you a “no” response. Record this movement.
    c) Remember that if your question is unclear, convoluted or cannot be answered with a yes or no you may receive a neutral response from the pendulum. The movements of the pendulum may not be in the same direction as another dowser, that is ok.

Develop your own protocols. (Add to these as you develop success.)

    • Have a fresh paper pad and pen available
    • Write down the question before you ask the question.
    • Ask clear and concise questions that can be answered with a yes or no.
    • Be well, under no artificial influence (alcohol, drugs, etc.), refreshed (not tired).
    • Be comfortable, sitting is fine, do not rest your elbows on the table.

Dowsing with a Witness

A witness is not another person. The witness is a similar item to the item being dowsed for. If you are dowsing for lost keys, place a key in the pendulum hand or press a key to the forehead while asking your questions. If you are searching for a pet, the witness could be a toy or article worn by the pet.

Where and when to dowse and in the presence of who?

    • Always dowse in a place where you can “clear the mind”, not be interrupted for any reason other than fire!
    • If another dowser is present have an agreement that only one will dowse at a time and the other will remain behind the active dowser.
    • Dowse only when refreshed and rested.
    • Never dowse in a crowd or in the presence of naysayers.
    • Dowsing is a learned scientific art, if you feel the need to put on a show, stop dowsing and join an acting school.

Practice

Your need to practice pendulum dowsing will be rewarded with accuracy. If you follow the steps above you will train yourself to be disciplined, and gain the ability to have your subconscious mind operate and communicate with you while you are awake. Little practice produces little results. Lifelong correct pendulum dowsing practice produces a Master Dowser!

Dowsing A Life

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Dowsing A Life is as easy as dowsing the sex of the person in a grave* (marked or unmarked). The physics of why, how come, and where does the power and energy come from to answer dowsing questions is revealed in time. The dowser asks a dowsing question, views the answer in most cases from a form of a dowsing tool. Based upon the dowsing answer, the dowser proceeds to the next question until the query has been satisfied. All dowsing questions asked by a dowser are formed so the question can be answered by one word; “yes” or “no”.

Dowsing is a lifestyle, an art, a gift-style, and a profession. Dowsing is a study of all five senses in conjunction with a more complete use of our brain and all levels of consciousness. Dowsing is a progressive learned approach to consciously use the subconscious mind to solve problems on demand. How many times have you gone to sleep with a seemingly monumental problem and had not a clue upon which to solve it? Upon awakening, a solution came to you as plain as if someone spoke it to you… where did the answer come from? The subconscious mind worked all night and produced a solution by the next morning. Genuine dowsing allows the dowsers to use his or her mind to summon answers on demand without sleep. There is no hokest pokest alakazam magic, divining, witchery or alien responses in dowsing. Dowsing utilizes the conscious, subconscious and the super-conscious mind concentrating simultaneously to produce answers to proposed questions. If our mind has the ability to contact the Architect of the Universe, energy, system or storehouse of knowledge for the history of our world while we sleep to get an answer, some would call that ability, supernatural, dowsing confirms that this is a more original use of the mind.

Dowsing a path for everyone is a common statement rarely clarified. We are all born to have the same amount of unused brain. A study of dowsing can produce a more actively used brain encompassing sections that would normally not be used in a lifetime. We are all born with the physical attributes to be a concert pianist or an engineer. Our interests and training leads us on separate paths. Dowsing is not fully understood. So far we acknowledge that a proficient dowser is consistently better with dowsing answers than the law of averages. Before the age of x-ray and infrared photography society denied that there could be any unseen rays of light. Now we have discovered more unseen rays than are visible by the naked eye.

The professional dowser fulfills a need and seldom performs like a stage artist. A novice may show off their dowsing to impress an audience but rarely can they produce answers better than chance.

Dowsing a journey, not a destination… dowsing knowledge has increased tremendously in the last 80 years. Scientific dowsing tests (by many dowsers) with records of results has educated the present dowsing community with more data than all of dowsing history up to 1900. If dowsing students use this data as a foundation for furthering dowsing, we could possibly teach dowsing as a technique to expand the use of our brain in all areas of science.

Dowsing a healthy life can be as simple as “ask and ye shall receive”. Place white sugar in your left hand, stand with both hands straight out from the body (perpendicular) and have someone press down on your right hand while you resist them. Now wash your hands and repeat the steps above with nothing in the left hand. The force needed to move the arm down should need to be greatly increased. This action requires another person to help. Dowsing allows you to get the same response by yourself. A pendulum will allow you to find out if any food or vitamin, mineral, herb or item on the menu will be harmful to your body before ingestion. Dowsing stimulates the brain to action. As we use this new found brain activity, the brain reveals more functions that it is capable of. Left dormant, the brain performs at less than 10% of its capacity.

*Dowsing a life mentioned at the start of this article can be defined in question form, “Is this person (use the person’s name) still breathing?” The next issue of the paragraph addresses dowsing the sex of a person in the grave which is answered here.

How To Make Dowsing Rods

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

How to make dowsing rods is the question most new dowsers want answered first, so they can feel the “pull” of the dowsing rods and start their dowsing adventure. The dowsing rods most commonly made at home are the “L rods”. L rods can be made of coat hangers, spring steel, welding rods or bare copper wire. These dowsing rods can be made in 15 minutes or less and they are as accurate as $100 manufactured rods. The rule of thumb is; the long part of the rod is 3 times the length of the handle. So if the handle is 5 inches long, the long part of the rod will be 15 inches.

Use wire or rod that has no coating (bare). Measure and bend at a right angle to form an”L” shaped rod. The most used material secured in solving the riddle of how to make dowsing rods is a coat hanger (The old kind of hanger that is found at the far end of the clothes pole). The answer to how to make dowsing rods is a few simple steps:

• Take wire cutters and cut off the hook beyond the twisted area below the hook.
• Straighten the coat hanger completely before measuring and cutting for length.
• Measure the handle and make a 90° bend.
• Measure the long part of the rod using the 3 X rule of thumb and cut for length.
• Duplicate for second rod.

The procedure is the same if you use brass welding rod or another metal. The proof for discerning if you have correctly followed the instructions on how to make dowsing rods is to go into the front lawn and find the water line leading into the house or apartment. Or you may turn on the garden hose, walk over it with the “L” rods and watch them cross. After the dowsing rods cross, turn on the water, use one rod and determine which way the water is flowing!

The next most asked for instructions of how to make dowsing rods are the “forked” dowsing rods also known as the “Y” rod that would resemble the branch of a tree that forks forming two handles and joined at one single origin.

1. If using a live tree branch, remember to refresh with a fresh cut limber branch every other day as the branch dries quickly becoming rigid and brittle.
2. A more permanent approach would be to find a discount retail store and buy 2 inexpensive fishing rods.
3. Cut the tip off as close to the end as possible
4. Cut all “eyes” off the pole. (be care not to damage the fiberglass pole).
5. Cut the fishing poles off at 27 inches.
6. Tie the heavy ends of the rods together with nylon thread and seal with rubber cement.
7. You may or not decide to seal the smallest ends of the rod. (Do not restrict the limberness of the small ends.

There are other rods that can be made when looking for “how to make dowsing rods”. These rods are a little more complicated but can be made fairly inexpensive ($25 or less). There is the “bait chamber” or witness chamber Lobo Map and Field rod which is the Sam Wolf dowsing rod. There is the Vern Cameron Aurameter or the Al Rossmiller Magnetic Drop Coil Dowsing rod that the degree of difficulty is greater than the “L” rods but certainly within the grasp of a garage tinkerer. Email for plans of these three advanced dowsing rods.

The fastest way to make a dowsing rod is to take a bare brass brazing (welding) rod and shake it up and down vertically asking a “yes”/ “no” question. Be sure and establish your “yes” and “no” before you dowse. This type of dowsing rod is known as a primitive wand or bobber. There is nothing to do in order to start dowsing with this rod except initiate the vertical action! You will find the “action “stiff” and restrictive. Therefore some dowsers find a more limber metal (or plastic), smaller diameter rod and place a handle on one end and a wood or metal weight on the opposite for greater movement of the rod.

If you have a solution for “how to make dowsing rods”, email them and it will be posted here.

Dowsing Instructions

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Dowsing instructions are available in books, websites and seminars; however the best source of dowsing instructions will come from a master dowser that will take the time to mentor you. Basic dowsing instructions will include:

Dowsing Research, start a dowsing library
Choosing a dowsing tool,
Writing down the question to be dowsed,
Balancing the Pendulum for the specific dowsing task or item, (if a pendulum is used)
Developing your own dowsing protocols,
Find the best place to Dowse,
Dowse for a confirmation,
Record your results
Practice dowsing everyday

Remember: dowsing is as simple as “Ask and ye shall receive.” CB

Dowsing instructions vary from each individual dowsing instructor; however, you will find what dowsing system works for you if you practice correctly and often. Each bullet above is a dowsing topic or course within itself. If you will take the time to learn these dowsing instructions and apply these dowsing instructions to your dowsing sessions, you will find that you will become successful.

The number one question that a person asks their dowsing instructor is: How accurate will my dowsing be? If you have dowsing abilities and follow your dowsing instructions, you will be successful. Your success will depend directly upon the effort you put forth. If you think that because you can get a “yes” and “no” response from your dowsing tool and that no additional dowsing instructions are needed, then you will not only be disappointed but probably never have any more accuracy than the mediocre law of averages.

Before you pay for dowsing instructions that are available in books, ebooks, dvd, cd, seminar or in person, do some RESEARCH, find out if the one offering dowsing instructions is a successful dowser. A dowser that has written a book on dowsing or that has been a dowsing instructor with a dowsing association, doesn’t necessarily qualify them as a successful dowser. Make a list of qualifications that a dowsing instructor should be able to meet and ask those questions before you pay for dowsing instructions!

Visit with as many dowsers as possible, making note of their techniques and tips. Write these notes or record, do not depend on your memory. Dowse if the person you were talking to was a dowsing master, dowsing dabbler, or an impostor. (If talking on the phone use your pendulum or wand to dowse “is this person I am talking with concerning dowsing instructions a person I can learn from”. You will eventually use this dowsing technique on everyone that you talk to on the phone to determine their accuracy in conversation, (ARE THEY TELLING THE TRUTH)!

Dowsing instructions never end. You will be learning dowsing techniques the rest of your life. One day you will receive a call in which a voice will be asking you for your dowsing instructions… of course you will be simultaneously dowsing them as they talk to see if this is the person you will want to share your lifelong knowledge with…
